Instructional Design - Day 3

2. SAM model: This is an iterative ISD model, that focus on repetitive small steps rather than perfectly executed giant steps. SAM is basically built as agile e-learning development process that addresses the product quality, timeline, and budget.

It can be extended from SAM1 to SAM2 based on the need of the project, SAM1 is the basic SAM process, and is a good fit for projects that don't require a lot of complicated technology (e.g. Video or Custom programming). SAM2 is the extension of SAM1 according to the project need.

SAM (Successive Approximation Model)

SAM: It has following phases

SAM Instructional Design Model

Preparation: A quick phase that involves, information gathering and getting all the background knowledge.

Iterative design: It starts with the brainstorming meeting, which establishes the foundation of the project. It focuses on the project performance and acts as the main environment for all team members to converse. The iterative design phase deals with the project design, prototype, and review.

Iterative development phase: The team rotates through development, implementation, and evaluation. Starting with design proof and moving towards alpha and beta before rolling out the result. As the instructional product is being developed, continuous analysis and evaluation are done so that at any point if a change needs to occur, it can happen quickly and limit any risk of the project moving out of budget or time.

Advantage

Using the iterative approach, everyone's ideas and assumptions can be discussed, implemented and tested early before the development of the actual product.

Starting with the basics let's start with general terms, definitions, and pre-requisite. Instructional Designing: A systematic and analyzed way to create instructions for making the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing. Instructional Designer : An instructional designer creates and delivers educational training materials (e.g. eLearning courses, videos, manuals, handouts, e.t.c.) for various organization segments such as for business, higher educational institutions, and other. The process of instructional designing : - Start with client analysis, what they want, what they need to learn, this is done by collaboration with   SME (Subject Matter Expert). - Define objective and ensure the content matches w
