Instructional Design

If you are reading this blog, it means you are inclined towards this prospective career, and the good news is that it is definitely going to take you a step ahead with respect to knowledge and ultimately the productive future.

Starting with the basics let's start with general terms, definitions, and pre-requisite.

Instructional Designing: A systematic and analyzed way to create instructions for making the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing.

Instructional Designer: An instructional designer creates and delivers educational training materials (e.g. eLearning courses, videos, manuals, handouts, e.t.c.) for various organization segments such as for business, higher educational institutions, and other.

The process of instructional designing:

- Start with client analysis, what they want, what they need to learn, this is done by collaboration with   SME (Subject Matter Expert).
- Define objective and ensure the content matches with those objectives.
- Revise and rewrite the content, to shape up with the learning needs, the objective of work.
- Create media files as a supplement to the learning process.
-  Develop assessment (e.g. test, questionnaire, and other).

There are different systematic models for preparing the instructional design that one or the another way are based on the above-written process of instructional designing. Few models under instructional design are:

- ADDIE model
- Rapid prototyping
- Dick and Carey
- Kemp model

Skills required by an instructional designer: No job is monotonous, any firm that hires you to require an employee that can work on various platforms and have some basic skills related to the job profile. Some of the basic skills are:

- Office
- Flash
- Captivate
- HTML
- Multimedia
- Dreamweaver
- Photoshop
